SHE Representative Training

SHE representative training in South Africa was provided to attendees of the first SHE Summit. Our SHE representative course is designed to equip current employees with the skills to effectively represent their company in areas of health and safety.

As an SHE Representative, your duties will include:

• Being aware of all safety and health hazards and reporting them to your SHE Advisor and/or employer
• Doing an assessment of the hazards and risks and keeping a record of it
• Participating in any investigations or training to eliminate or control any hazards or risks
• Taking all actions necessary for the implementation of the control measures and following the implementation of such controls as set out by the SHE Advisor and/or employer.

If you take on the task as a SHE Rep, you must be responsible for:

• The implementation of control measures to eliminate or control any hazards or risks.
• Eliminating or reducing the risk to yourself, your co-workers and other employees and members of the public.

This course will give the employee the tools to identify hazardous conditions in their work area, report identified hazards to their supervisor, and participate in workplace inspections to ensure that the hazard identified has been addressed.This course is presented in two parts.

Part 1 will assist employees in identifying hazards in their specific workplace while part 2 will see the employee participating in an OSHA workplace inspection specific to their work area.

Denotech SHE Representatives are an essential part of the SHE process in the organisations they represent. Their role is critical in ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety Laws & Regulations within the workplace.

SHE Representative – The Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) encourages corporate management to provide their employees with the skills and knowledge to enhance health and safety at work.

One of these skills is that of a Health and Safety Representative (HS Rep), whose job it is to liaise between management and labour and to ensure that health and safety measures are implemented effectively.

As a SHE Representative, you will be responsible for raising health and safety issues at the workplace; your HS Rep will represent employees in discussion with management, promote safety awareness and encourage safe practices.

You will be trained to identify both the physical and psychological hazards of your workplace and to take practical steps to manage them. This two-day course will give you the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of health and safety, as well as the practical skills needed to ensure that your workplace is as safe as possible. You can expect:

Practical, hands-on sessions that teach you how to identify hazards and implement solutions;A comprehensive study material, including a manual, which you can keep as a reference tool; A detailed examination at the end of the training, which will certify your new skills as a Health and Safety Representative.
