This group is for anyone who would love to learn the basics of sewing. Together we will learn basic machine functions, such as threading the machine, how to adjust settings and select various stitches, machine sewing techniques and how to solve any problems that may pop up.
You will also learn basic sewing terminology, about various sewing tools and equipment, simple pattern reading and drawing, fabric types and which project to use them for, cutting, pressing, hand sewing skills, and using an overlocker. Many more things will be covered over the ten weeks.
This list is some of the possible projects we might work on over the term, however, the items we will make will be dependant on what fabrics and supplies we have available. As this is a community group, we rely on donated or discounted fabric, so we have to work with what we have.
We have spent some time turning an old iconic big yellow auto electrician building in the heart to Maroochydore into a space with a fusion of Aztec meets industrial feel! The upper room hosts a funky little built in cafe serving the delish locally produced Kai coffee.
With a focus on empowering women within our local community & collaborating with local artisans we offer a place and space where she can come to create, connect and enjoy genuine community while learning something new.
