Learning Outcomes
Understand the general philosophy and limitations behind the safe transportation of dangerous goods by air.
Recognise the nine hazard classes of dangerous goods and their labels.
Know how to read the list of dangerous goods and identify aspects such as the proper shipping name and applicable UN and ID numbers.
Recognise the various label specifications and how labels are used to correctly mark packages
Understand Dangerous Goods documentation including the Airway Bill (AWB) and the Declaration for Dangerous Goods (DGD)
Be aware and alert of hidden dangerous goods including common examples of items that may contain or indicate the presence of dangerous goods
Understand the key elements dealing with the storage and loading of dangerous goods
Understand the Notification to Captain (NOTOC) process and what information the NOTOC must include
Describe which dangerous goods passengers and crew may be permitted to carry in carry-on or checked baggage
Understand basic procedures in the event of an accident or emergency involving dangerous goods.
