Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:
Silica Awareness is an Entry-Level training course. Trainees develop awareness about the hazards of silica dust exposure and learn techniques to avoid and reduce silica exposure.
Topics Include:
This 1-day Silica Awareness course is offered in-class. Participants learn relevant provincial and federal silica exposure regulations, employer and employee responsibilities, health effects of silica dust exposure, and which activities and materials present the greatest silica hazards.
The course then covers proper protective equipment while performing sawing or grinding and best practices for reducing and avoiding silica dust exposure. Trainees must pass a written exam to receive the certificate.
