Advanced is for people who want to go beyond the basics. If you want to learn SketchUp and take it to its limits then this is for you. You’ll learn powerful techniques and tools that will make you a master of SketchUp.

Pre-requisites: 

This course requires Modelling Essentials and Presentation Essentials knowledge, as well as some independent experience. Understandably, you have to be proficient in the basics of SketchUp to take this course.

Who’s this Course for? 

Anyone who want more out of SketchUp. You may be hitting the buffers of what the app can do and you can’t make the app do what you need it to. This course is for those who want more out of SketchUp.

At the end of the day… you’ll realise the extent of SketchUp can do. The ability to be in complete control of your model will open up to you, and you’ll know how to go forwards when you hit a limitation of the standard modelling tools or even the limits of your own machine.

What you’ll Learn…

This day is customised to your needs and is flexible to what you need to learn. We’ll cover areas such as:

• Photo modelling: You’ll learn to import a photograph and model from that photo, extracting textures from the image along the way.
• Efficiency: SketchUp heavily relies on the graphics card, so we teach you how to minimise the amount of polygons while achieving the same result, so you can work with efficiency and speed.
• Organic objects: We’ll teach you how to create more organic objects using the basic SketchUp tools, as well as loading and using plug-in objects for more unique features.
• Sandbox tools: You’ll learn how to model terrain, but also extend this skill to model many other objects, such a cushions or drapes.
• Breaking down models: To work efficiently, you may need to break down a model in to different parts, so other people can work on their respective areas or you can work within the limits of your graphics card. We teach you how to do this, including the referencing required for re-assembly.
• Thick walls: SketchUp makes it easy to place doors and windows in to walls of zero thickness, but not as simple when they get thicker. We cover the techniques of inserting doors and windows in to thick walls.
• Google Earth: You’ll learn how to export your model on to Google Earth to share with the rest of the world.
