We have developed an introductory slinging/rigging training course that provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to safely carry out basic rigging and lifting operations
Delegates completing Rigging and Lifting training will be able to:
Carry out basic calculation of angles and tension
Define lifting operation and equipment terminology
Identify common unsafe practices and probable consequences
Identify safe and correct use and pre-use examination of rigging and lifting equipment
Plan routine lifting operations and understand requirement for non-routine/ complex lift planning
Understand care and storage requirements
Understand relevant legislation applicable to lifting operations
Understand the requirement of lifting operation risk assessment
Understand basic functions and safe working practices of offshore pedestal cranes and overhead travelling cranes

The course is designed for site personnel with previous experience or training in slinger signaller activities. It covers key health and safety aspects of slinging and landing loads and the importance of providing clear directions to the crane operator during a lifting operation.
Upon successful completion of GWO’s slinger signaller training course, the participant will be able to work within the wind industry conducting slinging techniques and signalling during simple lifting operations, meaning lifts conducted based on a lifting plan or covering known hazards.
Slingers’ main responsibility is to communicate with the Crane Operator using a series of hand signals. These hand signals help the operator to manoeuvre the crane in a safe and efficient way.
Slinging and Signaling (RTITB) course is offered by Alpha Safety Training for all skill level. Alpha Safety Training is an established provider of training solutions that are based in South Wales.
