Our 2 days Small Plant & Power Tool Safety Train the Trainer course enables you to become an instructor delivering effective Small Plant & Power Tool safety training and tool box talks to employees, in relation to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 1998).

Please note - The training is not based on a practical demonstration of how to use the tool, it is based on training the trainer how to create a safe system of work/ method statement for the tools they are using. Therefore, it can cover all the tools they use, as it is theory.

If the trainer would like to bring a sample of the tools they use to the training, that can be useful. It is also helpful if we can have a list of the tools your team use, prior to attending.

This course is suitable for beginners, up to experienced practitioners. We incorporate all levels of experience within the training. The Small Plant and Power Tool Safety Trainer course is suitable for training employees in industries such as

  • To enable the candidate to carry out their own courses to train operatives in safe use of small plant and power tools.

 

Certification:  

  • Profile of Achievement Award 3791 and an NTS trainers certificate

 

Location:  

  • Our open courses are held at our training center Unit 1, Adams House, Northampton Science Park, Kings Park Road, Moulton Park Industrial Estate, Northampton, NN3 6LG.

 

Course Material:  

  • All handouts with underpinning knowledge, PowerPoint Presentation, Lesson Plan, Step-by-Step Guide, Trainer’s manual, Practical and Theory Assessment Auidance, Key faults found in learners, Post Course Telephone help-line, City & Guilds Certification and Registration.

 

Length Of Course:  

  • 2 days

 

Learning Outcome:  

By the end of the course the participant will be able to display an understanding of:
 

  • Regulations: What is required

  • Pre-use checks “5 steps” including;

  • Workplace checks
  • Machine checks
  • Personal checks including PPE
  • Use of the Equipment
  • After use checks
  • Use of the equipment including:

  • Hazards arising from use

  • Precautions to be observed

  • Structuring and delivering the training

  • Where to source information to create training on particular tools

  • Assessing your trainees. Practical and knowledge

 

Assessment Criteria:  

There is no written test but the trainees will be assessed on the practical element. The training involves candidate participation with the emphasis on the practical element of the training. On day two the candidate will carry out a practical training session on which they will be assessed.

 

City And Guilds Profile Of Achievement:  

The candidate will complete a pre-course questionnaire, a mid course interview and a post-course professional discussion to fulfil the requirements of the City and Guilds Profile of Achievement criteria.
