The CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R) is divided into several units including the core units below:

• The current focus of the Health and Safety Executive’s attention

• Risk assessment and method statements

• Construction Site Health, Safety and Welfare

• Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)

• Behavioural safety

• Occupational health

• Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction

All candidates will be provided with the GE700/20 for this course.

Mandatory entry requirements

• To be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.

• If you need to re-sit the test, you must do this within 90 days of the original course date at an additional charge

• You will need to provide a valid ID on the first day of the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence.

Assessment: 

This course is highly interactive and will be taught with case studies, group work and presentations. Candidates will also need to do some self-study outside of the course.

The examination for the SMSTS Refresher course will be a multiple choice exam at the end. Successful candidates will be provided with a course completion letter and certificates will be issued by CITB within 4 weeks).

If you are unsuccessful, there is a possibility to be eligible for another exam on the day provided you reach above 71% but under 80% (pass mark). This resit is free of charge. If the candidate achieves less than 71%, the full course must be undertaken again.

Renewals: The SMSTS Refresher course Certificate is valid for 5 years and after this, candidates can undertake a 2 day refresher course to maintain the certificate for a further 5 years.
