Our creativity

This may sound like a cliché, but we believe that learning a second language should always be fun! And we think that being creative as teachers is the key to our success. This is the reason why our classes are full of games, projects, videos and other interactive activities, to ensure that our students learn Spanish and have a great time while doing so.

We create most of our own materials (you can download them for free from our resources section!) and are in constant search for new technologies that can be used in class to make learning more dynamic and interactive.

Our experience

Lara’s Spanish Hub was born as a deeply personal project, it was never thought of as a business opportunity but rather as the product of a lifelong passion for teaching languages and connecting with people from all walks of life. We are not a school where teachers come and go!

With more than 15 years of experience, I am personally involved in all aspects of the running of the school: training our small team of teachers, lesson planning, lesson delivery and making sure it's a fun experience for all students!

Our methodology

At Lara’s Spanish Hub, we are firm believers in an interactive and dynamic teaching style and are convinced that the focus of each lesson should be communication. We are genuinely interested in doing everything we can to help students learn Spanish, while having a great time.

Our lessons are highly personalised, as we believe that students have different learning styles and speeds, so we adjust the content to every class.

Our Teaching Method: The Communicative Approach

Our method is based on the communicative approach. We do not just want you to know Spanish, we want you to use it! The main focus of Lara’s Spanish Hub is to improve your communication skills. Our teaching style is highly interactive and dynamic and we focus on developing the student’s abilities to speak and understand spoken Spanish, since we know their ultimate goal is to be able to have a conversation in Spanish.

It sometimes happens that people study a foreign language for many years and yet they are not able to use the language at all. In most cases this is a consequence of a traditional approach to language teaching, which emphasises grammar and written skills.

On the contrary, the Communicative Approach believes that language is about communicating rather than just grammar. This allows us to bring real communication situations into the classroom. You’ll participate in many situational activities, which are well planned and structured but also leave room for being spontaneous and for improvising (and making mistakes  ) so that you can practise Spanish in normal life situations.

Our lessons are carefully resourced and planned, and we have a passion for incorporating the most creative and innovative materials and activities to ensure our students have fun while learning. While we adopt the most effective language teaching methodologies, we also take into account our students’ different learning styles and needs. Finally, we follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
