Spanish Language- DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera)

The Universidad de Salamanca (University of Salamanca) in Salamanca, Spain designs the tests. Located to the west of Madrid, the university also undertakes the role of correcting and providing final evaluation of the tests. 

The DELE exam is an international Spanish certification that you can take to prove your competency in the language.  It can be taken anyone who lives in a country where Spanish isn’t the official language. It’s easy to register for and can be done online. Once you take a DELE exam and pass, your certificate is valid for life! 

What Are the 6 DELE Exam Levels?

The exams are separated into six levels:

• A1, A2 – Basic Level A1 and A2 are the first levels of Spanish. They are all about building up your skills in the basics. These levels will test your competency in the most basic of areas, like family, work and shopping and other general topics. They’re perfect for beginners and help you build a foundation for your future in Spanish! 
• B1, B2 – Intermediate Level Levels B1 and B2 are a step up from the previous levels, but they will help you understand texts and navigate situations that might arise when you’re traveling. They also test your ability to express thoughts and opinions in simple subjects. 
• C1, C2 – Advanced Level Understanding complex texts, writing fluently, and communicating with ease are all skills that you can achieve with Levels C1 and C2. You will now be able to understand texts with ease, write about complex subjects with confidence and communicate fluently.

These tests gauge all four aspects of language learning i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening. As you proceed in the levels, the questions asked get more challenging!

When Can You Take the DELE Exam

The DELE exams can only be taken on official dates. All the exam centres around the world have their exams on the same days. When deciding the date of your exam, keep these points in mind:

• Make sure to keep a track on the registration period and register for a specific exam date before it ends.
• Not all levels are offered on all the dates
