Spanish Language Courses

Spanish is spoken by more than 570 million people. It is a Romance language and shares its Latin origins with several other European languages, including French, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian. It is the official language in more than 20 countries and is spoken by a growing number of people.

Spanish 1 is the first of three introductory courses of the Spanish language. It is suitable for those students who wish to start exploring the language and discovering the cultural differences and idiosyncrasies between the people of Spain and the people of Latin America.

Emphasis is on vocabulary, everyday phrases and conversation. Grammar relevant to the skill level will also be introduced and expanded upon, depending on the level. NSW School of Languages offers our Year 9 and 10 Spanish students an engaging learning experience with effective and innovative learning activities. Students will require access to a computer and the internet during their allocated Spanish periods as much of their work is to be completed online.

The VSL offers a wide range of face-to-face classes in VSL Centres throughout the metropolitan and regional areas. Courses in many languages are available from Prep to VCE. In standards and content, courses are comparable to those offered in day school language classes and follow a standard course.
