Teachers will walk away from this course with the knowledge, skills and confidence relating to programming for students with exceptionalities.
They will explore categories of exceptionality in Ontario and teaching strategies that can be used to reach every student.
This course will explore IEP development, inclusion and will include the review of a variety of Ministry of Education documents.
Special Education Part 1 will be of interest to every teacher; not just those who teach in special education classes.

An introduction to the basic principles and techniques of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and Behaviour Therapy as applied to various clinical populations, including, for example, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disability and acquired brain injury.
Students will also learn how to access and interpret journal publications in the field of autism and applied behaviour analysis.
This course will help teachers develop skills and knowledge in the design, delivery, programming, and assessment of special education.
The course content was developed based on the International Council for Exceptional Children’s Standards for Entry into the profession.
This course will extend, develop and apply the understanding and knowledge obtaining upon completion of Part 1 theories and models in the design, delivery, programming, and assessment of special education.
