Course overview
The purpose of this course is to enable you to progress in becoming a competent practitioner within the specialism of cardiac care. This will allow you to develop the knowledge and skills required to enable you to participate in the delivery of evidence-based care.
This course will allow you to critically evaluate core care skills for specialist clinical practice in cardiac care in order to set key care priorities.
The following topics will be covered:
Recognition and assessment of the deteriorating cardiac patient
Haemodynamic management
An introduction to rhythm recognition and 12-lead ECG interpretation
Heart disease and related pharmacology.
Care of Patients with/following:
Acute Coronary syndromes
Heart failure
Interventions for coronary heart disease including cardiac surgery
Cardiac pacing
Cardiac education /rehabilitation
Endocarditis and valvular heart disease
An introduction to grown ups with congenital heart defects (GUCH).

A Collaborative Approach
in order to capture the voices and views of as many people from across the city community as possible, including staff, students, alumni and partners, city launched its most collaborative and consultative strategy development process to date.
over 2,000 members of city’s community took part in the innovative stakeholder engagement programme, sharing over 13,500 ideas and contributions through a series of in-person and online staff sessions, focus groups, workshops, a student engagement day and the interactive and anonymous online platform, the big city conversation.
these were compiled to produce the draft vision and strategy outline which was approved by city’s council in spring 2022.

Moving from Strategy to Implementation
eight workstreams have been identified to form the details of the strategic plan including the sequencing, prioritising, interdependencies and resource requirements to deliver city’s objectives over the next eight years.
the next seven years will see the full implementation and delivery of the vision and strategy 2030.
Specialty training in adult Cardiology in London allows trainees to see and be a part of the breath of state of the art Cardiology practice.
This module has been designed for staff from a range of professional backgrounds. Applicants will be professional registrants who have normally completed one year of preceptorship having achieved locally based competencies. In addition, you should have access to patients with cardiological illness ...
Attendees will build on their skills in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, learning more about where the future might lie in these areas. Through a series of lectures from some outstanding speakers, this will assist attendees in improving their skills.
A Short Course normally comprises 3 modules, which you can complete in one year as a part time course of study. On successful completion you will be awarded 60 CATs points at Level 3, and you may be eligible to progress onto our degree programmes.
The Cardiology training in Scotland West has access to all modules for Cardiology. The training is provided in DGHs in and out with Glasgow, in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Forth Valley. The Tertiary centre is Golden Jubilee National Hospital (GJNH).
