Civil engineering is an incredibly diverse field where people range from totally unqualified individuals to extremely qualified professionals. However so many routes within the trade are not defined.

One example is that the people who pour concrete in a small home will also be expected to manage budgets and fees.

But what can be done is broad generalizations and generalized skills to ensure that the students career has a broad application and wide opportunity for a variety of roles and success. This is what we aim to achieve with our Specialist Diploma.

Modules:

  • Skills For Higher Education
When you progress from high school to university, there is a dramatic shift in the content, the way you learn, the way you have to think, and the way you are assessed. Rather than let you figure it out for yourself, we jump start the process with this module.

  • Mathematics For Technology
Math is the language of engineers. You have to speak the language! Math might scare you but not after this module. Get the fundamentals right so we can build on a strong foundation.

  • Materials And Building Science
So you want to build a house – but what are we going to build it with? Some materials are too hard, and others are too soft.

  • Some are too brittle and some are too expensive. Assembling a modern building that meets the demands of developers in 2021 as well as regulations around Energy Savings and sustainability is tough.

  • This is where we learn about the materials used and the science used to construct and keep buildings together.

  • Construction Processes And Technology
Now we know what materials we want to use, and what science holds that building together, we need to know the most efficient way of putting buildings up considering time, and money – and sometimes space.

  • We explore the traditional methods of erecting structures and also the new age ways that may soon become mandatory by law such as pre-cast and pre-formed components.
