The electricity industry in Singapore was de-regulated, thus giving many more options to the industrial and in time also for residential consumers. This was expected translate into more innovative and market driven energy products for consumers like competitive energy prices and energy efficient devices, etc.
The Energy Conservation Act will be updated and in force to introduce minimum energy management standards for large energy users in the industry sector with effective from FY2013.
Specialist Diploma in Energy Efficiency and Management (SEEM) is designed to develop the technical skills and competence of engineering professionals needed to manage and track energy usage within the organization they serve. It gives a thorough understanding of the key energy issues in the building sector. Participants are required to bring computer Notebook when attending lessons, as you may need it to access the e-learning materials, writing reports, etc.
Overview - Teaching And Learning
SP's approach to teaching and learning is not confined to any one particular approach or set of methods. It is committed to an eclectic research-based orientation for the design of learning (whether for classroom teaching or online learning).
At present, this comprises two interrelated frameworks - 'The Learning Framework' and 'The Creative Teaching Framework' - that teaching staff can use as they seek to design effective and creative learning experiences for our students.
What's exciting about SP's approach to teaching and learning is the commitment to incorporating established best research on human learning and validated effective practices. Furthermore, it seeks to be proactive in the sense of creatively extending knowledge and producing innovative practices.
Such work is not just confined to the department - all are invited to contribute to practical action research and be at the forefront of what it means to be a highly competent and creative teaching professional.
The ongoing efforts to mentor, guide, encourage and nurture students have seen our lecturers being accorded the President's Award for Teachers (PAT) in 2017, 2018 and 2020 - making SP the institution with the highest number of award recipients since 2017 when educators from polytechnics and ITEs were included in the PAT. The PAT recognises excellent educators for their role in moulding the future of our nation.
Click on the arrow next to the Innovative Teaching Methods menu on the left and select the profiles of our PAT recipients and finalists to find out more about their unique achievements.
Enhanced Opportunities and Pathways
From Academic Year 2022 onwards, the polytechnics in Singapore will progressively implement a set of recommendations from MOE’s review on opportunities and pathways in applied education. The recommendations will better support the diverse needs and aspirations of our students, provide them with a more flexible and diverse curriculum to pursue their passions, and further strengthen their career readiness and competencies to thrive in the future economy.

Effective energy management and sustainability practices are critical for industrial organisations to reduce operating costs, comply with regulatory requirements, and mitigate environmental impact to meet global energy sustainability and environmental challenges.
Solar panel systems can be complex, but going solar doesn't have to be a difficult operation. Learn more about solar panel technology, and the implications and development of solar in Solar 101.
Energy management is a key tool to improve sustainability. It is the process of monitoring, controlling and conserving energy use, enabling unnecessary energy use to be systematically identified and eliminated, thereby increasing the overall energy efficiency of equipment and facilities.
This course provides participants with the knowledge of Solar energy resource, Solar PV technologies, design of PV systems and skills in the installation, testing & commissioning and O&M of Solar PV System.
Environment sustainability is increasingly gaining ground in the building and construction industry, buoyed by global concerns on climate change and limited natural resources. With the rising trend towards green technologies and renewable energy
