To provide learners with the essential knowledge and skills required by those who wish to pursue a career as a Sports Coach, Fitness Instructor and/or Personal Trainer.
This qualification gives learners the opportunity to gain a nationally accredited qualification which provides the essential knowledge, skills and personal qualities required for an occupation in the Sport and Fitness sector.
Course Content
Mandatory units to complete the qualification: Practical Sports Performance, Fitness for Sport and Exercise,The Sports Performer in Action, Training for Personal Fitness, Leading Sports Activities, Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Performance, Lifestyle and Well-being, Injury and the Sports Performer
Alongside your vocational study you will also need to attend GCSE Maths and English as required.
Who is the course for
Learners aged 16+.
Students who would like a career in the sports industry or to progress onto a L3 course in Sport.
Those considering a career as a Sports Coach, Fitness Instructor and/or Personal Trainer.
Please note that 16-18 year olds may need to be supervised in the workplace, once they have achieved the qualification.
This qualification provides progression to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Fitness and Personal Training.

Work Experience
You will need to undertake a minimum of 5 days work experience with a local employer in order to pass the course.

Record and celebrate achievements made by the College and its communities
Continue to upgrade our technology to meet sustainability goals
Move from single-use plastic consumables in all campus shops to metal alternatives
Provide a branded metal refillable bottle for students when they start their course at College
Promote sustainability in prominent places on the website, including Sustainability News and other channels
Commit to the Nature Pledge, as suggested and guided by BPC Council
Mitigate the impact of new, more energy-efficient developments such as at Lansdowne, by creating a green space with more trees planted than those removed to facilitate the construction
Continue to explore and promote sustainable travel options such as the Cycle to Work Scheme, to help improve local air quality and health and well-being.
Incentivise students and staff to use sustainable travel options through our partnership with Beryl, the leading bike-hire company, by on-campus events, group rides and free minute vouchers.
This course is ideal if you have completed Level 2 and have significant experience as a school support worker and wish to move into a more specialised role in administration, learning support and management. You will cover in more detail the following topics:
