Introduction
Designed as a one-year, full-time course of study initially, with the option to continue studying for a second year in order to complete the full Sports Coaching National Diploma.
This course is equivalent in size to one A level with the added bonus of being able to enter the workforce directly as a multi-skilled assistant coach. Completing two years will give an opportunity to become a multi-skilled coach.

Work experience:
The course also requires 30 hours of work placement which will be completed
either in a one-week block or over the course of the academic year.
You will be assisted with finding a placement but we recommend you have an
input into finding a work placement which is linked to your future
employment.
Course units/modules
There are three mandatory units in total:
Developing coaching skills
Health, wellbeing and sport
Careers in the sport and active leisure industry
Entry requirements
The entry requirements for this course include four GCSEs at grade 4 including English or maths.
During the course you are required to complete at least 18 hours of independent study to back up the learning discovered in your classroom sessions.

The Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sport and Exercise Science) is designed to give you the practical skills, scientific knowledge, and in-depth understanding you'll need for a successful and rewarding career in the sport and physical activity sector.
During the course you will be taught about how to support children’s development within a school environment and how a school provides curriculum support to children. The course consists of units that will each be assessed with a written task and a practical assessment.
This aims to develop your understanding of ways to encourage children's thinking about themes such as Global Citizenship, Ethical Enterprise & the Sustainable Development Goals.

On the PGCE, you’ll get hands-on experience on placement and will discover creative ways to teach English, with guidance from our experienced staff. You’ll also draw on newspapers, advertising and film.
