SQL Code Introduction Course

This one day course will equip you with the knowledge to extract meaningful data from a database. Our Introduction level course covers retrieval of data including filters, sums, calculations and updating and deleting data.

Delegates will also learn to extract data from multiple tables. Delegates do not require any previous knowledge of SQL. However, an understanding of relational database design is a preference, but not essential.

Understanding Relational Databases

• Understand how a relational database is structured

• Identify Primary and Foreign keys

• Write statements to extract data from multiple tables

The Basics and Writing Comments

• Write the SELECT Clause

• Use the FROM Clause

• Create different types of comments

Sorting and Filtering

• Use Order By

• Work with AND

• Work with OR

• Apply AND and OR together

• Use IN

• Work with wildcards to extract data

Work with Alias and Mathematical Fields

• Concatenate columns

• Create an alias using AS

• Use Mathematical Operators

• Apply Aggregate functions - SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, COUNT

• Apply the Group By Clause

Apply Changes to Data

• Use the INSERT Clause

• Apply an Update

• Change specific values

• Use the DELETE Clause
