Positioned just next to Glasgow Airport, SMT will provide seafarers with the essential skills in Basic Training in Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (TBOC).
The STCW 2010 BASIC Training in Oil & Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations course is set up to offer seafarers the essential education and training in tanker cargo operations to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements set out in the specific part of the following: Table A-V/1-1-1.

Learning Objectives
There are three outcomes to the training:
Outcome 1: The learner knows the properties of oil and chemicals and the hazards associated with them.
Outcome 2: The learner is able to apply health, safety and environmental precautions and measures in working on oil and chemical tankers.
Outcome 3: The learner can carry out safe oil and chemical tanker cargo operations.

This course will be physically demanding and therefore you will be required to complete a fitness declaration.
This course provides teaching that will help delegates theory development on STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness. This course ensures that delegates will leave with the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements that are set out in the STCW code.
The course also has application in other maritime sectors, such as port passenger terminal personnel, river cruising vessels and offshore platforms.
STCW requires all seafarers to receive familiarization and basic safety training or instruction in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code. The minimum requirements for familiarization and basic safety training are contained within the Basic Safety Training Week (BSTW).
This Security Awareness (PSA) Course has been tailored specifically for crew and staff, who work on board vessels such as bulk cargo, container transporters, chemical, mobile offshore platforms, car transporters, marine-based wind farms,and ferries.
