The institute strated as 'Ocean Education & Research Centre' in 1998 and started conducting DGS approved courses.
In 2004 as per the directives of the Director General of Shipping, all DGS approved courses were transferred to the 'OERC ACADEMY', a 'Section-25' company under the Registrar of Companies.
The institute is certified by ABS under ISO 9001: 2015 quality standards. The OERC Academy is a member of the Globalmet. The Academy has only one goal, to provide best possible Education and Training to Shipping Industry aspirants in all aspects of shipping and to provide various skills and training to manpower for the Indian Shipping and Shipbuilding Industry.
STCW which a prospective seafarer must do before proceeding to the sea. These courses under the STCW Convention (Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping) are IMO (International Maritime Organization) requirements and cover the basic knowledge about the Safety & Survival at sea.
Security Training (for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties STSDSD) is offered by Trident Institute Of Maritime Studies. Training programs may be customized or scheduled to suit specific needs of companies or groups of students.
Basic Safety Training course is offered by MVVS.
BOSIET course is offered by Suraksha Marine. The policy of Suraksha is to provide manpower, marine management, engineering/ maintenance services and training as required by requirements of Global offshore oil & Gas Industry & STCW.
Basic STCW Training is offered by Naval Maritime Academy. The Academy is a premier Maritime Training Institute (MTI) conducting STCW Modular and Offshore Courses approved by the Director General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India.
