The aim of the course is to make the trainee to understand supervision skills of marine metal scaffold erections.

 

Learning Objective

The objective of this training course is to enable participants to:

  • Introduction to Marine Metal Scaffolding

  • Roles and Responsibilities of a Marine Metal Supervisor

  • Composition of Scaffold

  • Scaffolding system; details, types and uses of scaffolds

  • Handling of scaffold materials

  • Ship structures – names and parts

  • WSH (Scaffolds) Regulations 2011, WSH (Work-At-Height) Regulations 2014, WSH (Work-At-Height) Regulations Amendment 2014, CP14:1996, CP20:1999

  • Stability, centre of gravity and loading of scaffolds

  • Drawings/sketches of various types of scaffolds

  • Erecting hanging scaffolds – procedures, methods, anchoring points, safety precautions

  • General guidelines to alter, modify, add, inspect, assessment of scaffold

  • Developing scaffold checklist

  • Scaffolding safety

  • Design, Erect, Inspect and Dismantle of a typical marine metal scaffold 

 

Entry Requirements

  • The trainees should pass the Marine Metal Scaffold Course for Scaffolders. Proof of entry requirement includes the submission of Certificate of Successful Completion or WSQ Certificate of Attainment (SOA)

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 4 and above. Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 4 and above.

 

Validity Of Certificate

The certificate and ID card that is issued to a successful participant for the course and assessment is valid for life long.
Based on the successful completion of the course and assessment, a certificate of achievement endorsed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will, will be awarded to the trainee.

  • Requirements for Outriggers

  • Methods and Procedures for Erection and Dismantling, 

  • Precautions to be taken while working in confined spaces and at height 

  • Introduction to Hanging Scaffold

  • Maintaining Scaffolds, Altering Scaffolds

  • Scaffold Checklist .
