This Level 2 qualification will equip you with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in schools and colleges. You will need to secure a placement to work in a school or college to complete this course unless you are already working in a role that supports pupils with their learning in either a school or college.
Course Content
This level 2 course consists of 11 assessed units including child development, behaviour management, safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, supporting learning activities, school structure and organisation.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
You should have Level 1 English skills (e.g. Functional Skills English). If you are not able to produce evidence of an English qualification, you will be required to take a short assessment. To ensure this course and style of learning is suitable for you, we will also require you to complete a short course application and attend a brief [online] interview.
First Class Requirements
Bring suitable note-making equipment. You might wish to bring a pad or lap top device.
Attendance Requirements
Attendance at on line sessions, classroom based sessions and workshops is compulsory. Your assessor will keep track of your placement hours in school.
Assessment Methods
Your written work will be assessed on line. Your assessor will observe you in the classroom putting your knowledge and skills into practice. Your personal and professional competencies will be assessed throughout the course.
Further Study Options
You will be able to enrol on Paediatric First Aid, Makaton, Food Safety, Safeguarding and Infection Control. Following successful completion of your level 2, you will be assessed to see if you have the knowledge, skills and professional competencies to progress to level 3.
