Trained in the classical ‘master-student’ tradition by Dr. M. McLoughlin and is currently a ‘closed-door’ disciple of Dr. Feng-Chao Lin. Over the years he has also studied various forms of Chi Kung, Hsing I Chuan, Ba Gua Zhang and Chan Bhuddhist meditation.

From Elementary (200 hours), Intermediate (200 hours), and Advanced (200 hours), the entire program level is covered (200hrs). On completion of each level of achievement, the teacher’s course also provides for higher skill and ability progression assessment.

Kushido Karate Do is South Africa's oldest school of Karate. The head of Kushido is Renshi Nico Bester (7th Dan). Honbu dojo (the headquarters) is headed by the Chief Instructor Shihan Lawrence Milward Bridges (6th Dan)
