JinLi’s Tai Chi for Schools Programs are tailored to suit all levels of the School Community from Primary through Secondary, Teachers, Parents and the wider school community. We provide compact, fun and easy-to-learn sessions for primary students right through to in-depth programs including theory, philosophy and complex movement sequences for educators and/or parents.

We have worked closely with educators and consulted with the Science of Learning Research Centre at Melbourne University to ensure our programs meet the highest standards. This has led to our focus on teaching sessions that test the practitioner’s self-awareness and self-respect thereby leading to improvements in human relationships, improved responses to outside forces and heightened levels of social and emotional literacy.

Tai Chi is the ideal form of exercise for individuals who do not like participating in team sports as they are still working with other people while pursuing their own self-development. The slow and gentle movements promote harmony in mind and body, thereby improving mobility, suppleness and mental alertness. There are many positive studies linking the practice of Taijiquan to improvements in sufferers of ADHD, depression, anxiety and neuromuscular disorders along with the obvious short and long-term health benefits including weight management, reduction in incidents of Diabetes 2 and heart disease to name a few.

The focus and calmness cultivated by the practice of Taijiquan creates a meditative state that reduces stress, thereby leading to improved immune system function and homeostasis in the body. It has also been seen to improve concentration and memory function in many practitioners

JinLi can teach Tai Chi as a standalone unit of between 30 and 60 minutes in duration; incorporate Tai Chi into existing school frameworks; or provide it as an ongoing extra-curricular program. It should be noted that the benefits of Tai Chi will not be evident from a one-off class, however it could be a valuable resource as an adjunct to Chinese language or culture studies. Regular ongoing attendance is usually required to see improvements in physical and mental wellbeing, development of community and social literacy.

In summary, under our guidance, any school community who actively engages in a Tai Chi program should be able to develop inner quietness, mental focus, physical relaxation, general health improvement, muscular control, self-discipline and a sense of community cohesion.
