We at Carisma Dance & Fitness want Tap classes to be interesting, innovative, technically challenging and fun.
Tap is an energetic and dynamic dance style, which has become more popular with young and old since "Hot Shoe Shuffle" and "Riverdance". It is not recommended that students begin Tap classes until the age of 5, this gives more time for the bones of the foot to develop.
We at Carisma Dance & Fitness want Tap classes to be interesting, innovative, technically challenging and fun. A strong technical base will be provided, with students learning correct terminology, the proper way to count rhythms and combinations, different types of rhythms and music and putting steps together which therefore trains students to become future teachers or choreographers.
Students will be exposed to all types of tap styles- from old style Broadway tap to hip hop style tap.

Classes include rhythm and sound technique as students learn how to create musical sequences with their tap steps.
Street tap in the tradition of hoofing, focusing on dancing from the waist down. A knowledge of basic tap dance is required. Similar to the style danced by Tap Dogs. Wear tap shoes or tap boots and street clothes.
The dancer’s foot and shoe essentially act as a drum, and each part of the shoe makes a particular beat and sound. We train our dancers to be versatile and highly recommend tap classes.
We believe it is important for every student to take part in Tap classes if they do not learn a musical instrument. It emphasises the development and strengthening importance of rhythm and sound.
Tap dance was created from a fusion of European and West African cultures evolving through many eras to the tap that we know today with metal plates screwed to the soles of the shoes to create the iconic “tap” noise.
