Adult students may wear any clothing that allows for a full range of motion.
​Dance Creations Academy was founded in a Fishers, Indiana church in 1993 by Bev Wohrle. She began by choreographing liturgical dance in worship services. At Christmas time she staged young children as "dancing angels" which turned into our first class and dance ministry of 8 girls and boys.
We had humble beginnings as a traveling dance studio. She transported 4' x 6' portable mirrors and ballet barres in her mini-van to different locations. Since then we have expanded to a beautiful 8000 s.f. building with a faculty of 10 highly qualified instructors and nearly 300 students.
Learn the basic vocabulary of tap, rhythms, weight changes, balance, foot articulation, shuffles, flaps and time steps. Dance to the tunes of Broadway Shows and lively tap tunes. Enjoy music of the 40’s, as well as original music by Marion and Lorraine Lundstrum.
This course draw from both the Broadway and the contemporary Rhythm-Tap styles and begin with a foot isolating warm-up, followed by rhythm and step-based skill building in both the center of the room and moving across the floor.
Children love to make noise and move – our tap dance classes for kids let them do both. In these classes, our instructors focus on furthering your child’s understanding of rhythm, music counting, timing, and different tap patterns.
A form of dance where rhythmic sounds are created by the feet. These classes are ideal for developing coordination, increased motor skills, and musicality. These classes will incorporate warm-up, center technique, and dance combinations using various styles of upbeat music
In addition to learning rhythm and musicality, Tap is a great cardiovascular exercise with the added benefits of working on your balance as you shift weight from one leg to another and one toe to heel or vice-versa.
