Learn how to make music with your feet in our fun tap classes!
Tap is an exciting form of dance where the dancer uses their feet to create rhythmic patterns such as time steps, centre combinations and travelling steps as well as choreography.
With emphasise the development and strengthening of basic tap technique while highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Students will focus on rhythms and intricate footwork by creating a percussion instrument using their feet.
Exams are available through the Glenn Wood Tap Syllabi. Although examinations are not compulsory students are to undertake exams as it gives students a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction in knowing they are improving each year. Students are presented with a certificate of accreditation for all their effort.

We offer classes for all ages and abilities that are taught in a safe and supportive environment.
Internationally recognised ISTD syllabus is taught. Trains the students in flexibility, strength, rhythm, musicality, and, combined with ballet, gives the required training for entry into Tertiary Dance institutions.
The class consists of a warm up at the barre followed by corner and centre work, finishing with choreography utilising steps they have learned from the syllabus.
In our tap classes we teach classic tap technique seen in musicals like 42nd street and Singing in the rain as well as more current, funky styles such as Tap Dogs.
Lake Macquarie Dance Centre has qualified teachers in tap dance to help students turn dance movements into a rhythmic percussion-like display.
