For anyone who has been excited by the syncopated rhythms of a tap dancer’s feet, we have a class for you. Tap builds concentration, coordination, rhythm, speed, and dexterity that offers a broad knowledge of the classical style as well as contemporary and rhythm tap technique.
Tap is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Tap can be traced back to the 1700s and is informed by the Irish Jig, English Clog, and African-American traditional body percussion.
A Tap class provides students a fun and energetic environment to learn strong tap fundamentals and technique. Tap is a fantastic base for rhythm, timing and coordination - all skills that can be used in every dance form, as well as sports and other outside activities
A truly American art form, tap dance blends athleticism and artistry to deepen the dancer's awareness of rhythm and musicality. This beginner level works on improving articulation of the feet and building steps together to form rhythm
Students begin with an introduction to basic tap steps, sounds, and techniques before exploring rhythms through call and response, and repetition.
