DurationTap Dancing is a style using precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping. It is derived from the traditional clog dance of northern England, the jigs and reels of Ireland and Scotland, and the rhythmic foot-stamping of African dances.
Two major variations on tap dance exist rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses more on the dance.
The sound is made by shoes with a metal “tap” on the heel and toe. Tap shoes can be bought at most dance shops. There are different brands of shoes which sometimes differ in the way they sound.

Gauteng Dance Studios accepts new learners from the age of 3yrs tot 12 yrs and dancers with previous experience ages 13yrs to 17yrs. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced levels into a year-round program.
We are proud to have qualified and competent teaching staff who is all still actively dancing and who are dedicated to progressing their own technique and choreography skills.
This class will focus on learning tap technique and terminology and putting them together in exciting combinations using high-energy music. Tap encourages the development of musicality and coordination.

Tap Dance Course Is Offered By Springwood Dance Academy. We take children from the age of 3yrs old to Adults and classes are held Mondays - Fridays. We do exam work from Junior Grades to Advanced and Solo Performers Awards.
Our exercises and techniques are based on the A.I.D.T.A. syllabus and we have a lot of fun working on dances that’s inspired by a variety of styles from Hip-Hop to Salsa.
Tap Dance Lessons are offered by Dance Direction International for all ages and skill levels. We strive to balance technique and performance in our learners.
