Course Details

TDG is national program established to promote public safety during transportation and handling of dangerous materials, whether they are moved by road, rail, air or sea.

The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act stipulates compliance with international requirements for classification, labeling and marking of means of containment, transport documentation and safety marks for dangerous goods.

The regulations also specify that people involved in handling such good must be appropriately trained to ensure their and public safety. The course includes the following topics:

  • Purpose and basics of TDG legislation

  • Classification and labeling of dangerous goods, hazards associated with them

  • Responsibilities of employers and employees in handling dangerous goods

  • Appropriate means of containment

  • Proper use of equipment used in the handling and transportation of dangerous goods and more.

 

Program Includes

  • Classroom program

  • Record of training

  • Written exam (multiple-choice questionnaire test)

  • Goverment specified certificate for each participant (valid for 3 years)

  • Wall certificate for company

 

Expiry of TDG Training Cerficate

A training certificate expires:

  • for transport by aircraft, 24 months after its date of issuance; and

  • for transport by road vehicle, railway vehicle or ship, 36 months after its date of issuance.

A person's training should be up-to-date with these regulations which, in turn, incorporate by reference other documents such as the ICAO Technical instructions, the IMDG Code and the " Dangerous Good Shipping Regulations ".

Consequently, additional training may have to be undertaken if regulatory changes applicable to the person's duties occur before the training certificate expires.
