This is a five-day program designed to meet the training needs of the dedicated rescuer, including both Confined Space & High Angle Rescue Techniques.

 

Purpose: 
To understand and use procedures, equipment and techniques needed to implement a safe rescue of a casualty at height

 

Objective: 

This more advanced rope work course is for students to utilize basic techniques to solve varied and compounded problems, through practical scenarios based on actual rescue situations.

  • Legislation (Requirement for Pre-Planned Rescue)

  • Hazard Assessment & Control

  • Structure Assessment (Anchors)

  • Advanced Physics of Rigging Systems

  • Essential Knot Tying Techniques

  • Raising & Lowering of Patient in Litter Basket

  • Special Application Rescue Equipment

  • Confined Space Specific Rescue Equipment

  • Casualty Management / WCB Transport

  • Advantages & Limitations of Rope & Rescue Equipment

  • Proper Use & Maintenance of Equipment

  • Additional Safety Concerns (Analyzing Force Vectors, Edge Attendants)

  • Personnel Communication & Systems

  • Considerations of an Effective Rescue Plan

  • Team Building

  • Incident Command System

  • High Angle Risk Management

  • Multi Agency Involvement

  • Triage Situations

  • Ascending of Various Systems

  • Rappelling on Various Descending Devices

  • Appropriate Techniques for Belay

  • Pick-off a Casualty Hanging on a FA Lanyard

  • Lowering of a Casualty to a Safe Position on the Ground

  • Mechanical Advantages & Rigging of Haul Systems

  • Simple, Compound & Complex Haul Systems

  • Varied Climbing Systems

  • Patient Packaging

  • Raising & Lowering of Patient in Litter Basket with an Attendant

  • Knot Passing Techniques

  • Utilizing Changes of Direction

  • Steep Slope Evacuation (According to Needs)

  • A-Frames (According to Needs)

  • Tripods 

  • Picket Anchoring Systems (According to Needs)

  • Utilizing Communication Systems

  • Special Application Rescue Equipment

  • Participants receive a student manual in which they are able to follow along and take required notes as part of their participation.

  • Upon successful completion of the required exam with a minimum score of 75% you will receive a Certificate of Completion

  • Full participation and extensive hands-on demonstrations are required by each participant to successfully complete this program.
