Put simply it equips you with teaching methods and ideas to help people, who don’t speak English as a first language, to improve their proficiency. Once you have completed the training you will be qualified to teach English as a foreign language.

Basil Paterson’s CELTA course is designed to give new English language teachers the skills and knowledge they need to step into the classroom with confidence. The course consists of 120 hours contact time with over 80 hours individual learning and six hours assessed teaching practice.
The course is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback.

This qualification prepares learners for employment as a coaching assistant in sport or physical activity. A level 1 assistant coach is able to support the delivery of sports or physical activity coaching sessions under the appropriate supervision of a suitably qualified coach.
This qualification will help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision with children and young people.
