The Art of Storytelling
Course summary
Most great orators and presenters understand that communicating a powerful idea is best done through storytelling. The art of delivering a business narrative that is attention getting and memorable can effectively inspire and influence others.
This course will cover the eight narrative patterns drawn from mythology, folklore and nursery tales and show you how to apply these to create drama and impact in your communication.
Storytelling is one of the best ways to get your audience on the edge of their seats. And once you know how – it’s easy!
We all enjoy a good story, whether it's a novel, a movie or simply the description of an experience shared by a friend. Stories put our whole brain to work, not just parts of it. We feel more engaged when hearing narratives and we remember them more. What gets remembered becomes top of mind.
Stories create buzz. The more buzz about a product, brand or service, the more awareness there is about it. And the more awareness there is, the higher the probability of being in that top-of-mind position.
Your organisation’s key stakeholders are making choices, preferences and buying decisions every day. Very often, these decisions are made as a result of what comes to mind first.
This highly practical and fun workshop will cover different narrative patterns and explore what makes a good story great. You will also have the opportunity to write your own stories to support your brand and organisational messages.Through feedback, video examples and exercises you will learn how to craft a story and deliver it in a compelling and credible way.
You will also learn how to include a good story as part of a speech or other written document – an invaluable tool for anyone whose job entails writing, editing or reporting.

Our Approach
Here at the Centre, we provide tools and techniques that will improve how you work.
We think it’s important that:
Training is in small groups so that every individual gets one-to-one attention
Learning should be challenging: intellectually and creatively
Different learning styles are embraced
Learning should be motivational, relevant and help delegates achieve their goals
Learning is more effective when it’s evaluated and supported on an on-going basis
We are passionate about communication and diversity and place both in the heart of what we do.
All of our courses contain practical sessions, group discussions, theory and coaching to ensure everyone in the room has a chance to really engage with the training.
