The Fashion Program is delivered on a concept to consumer platform. Courses in Fashion History, Textiles, and Concept Development allow students to form the foundation of their design ideas.
Courses in Communication, Design Fundamentals, Illustration and Digital Imaging enable students to communicate and prove those concepts, while the courses in Pattern making and Construction give students the ability to physically create their designs and ready them for market.
Students develop marketing skills through courses in Fashion Marketing, Promotion and Fashion Show Production. The school, press, public, and industry are invited to various fashion events throughout the year showcasing student design talent and coursework.
Pacific Design Academy welcomes you to quality design arts education. Our curriculum is dictated by the current and evolving needs of the design marketplace. The education you receive is artistically inspired and supported by the latest digital technology. We encourage our students to develop marketable skills and to foster individual ability and excellence.
Our History
The Pacific Design Academy (PDA) was founded in 1991 to provide quality education in the design arts. From our earliest program offerings in Interior Design, the Academy has grown to become the pre-eminent private design school in Victoria.
Our classes are led by practicing professional designers, ensuring a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs of the design marketplace. PDA is a designated college with the Private Training Institutions Branch of the BC Ministry of Advanced Education. PDA has authority to grant diplomas for all full time programs listed on this website.
The Academy’s instructors are working professionals who bring current, up-to-date ideas into the classroom. We moved to a fresh new space in 2022, with classrooms and studios that are bright and well equipped. The software we teach is relevant to real-world needs with design-industry standard computer labs.
Our limited class size ensures you get the individual attention you need to successfully master new skills. Because of our quality approach to design training, our graduates emerge with highly marketable skills.
We believe the skills that you learn at Pacific Design Academy are the beginning of your career horizons. The skills you learn here will last you a lifetime. We take pride in our teaching environment where small classes and individual attention are the norm.
Wool N' Things was opened by Gisele Goulet in October 2004. Gisele knit her first pair of mittens back in Grade 7 during what used to be called "Home Economics" class, in the all-girl school she attended at the time.
In this course, designed exclusively for beginner knitters, we will use straight needles to tame knitting, one stitch at a time. Notions covered in this lesson include: casting on, knit stitch - garter stitch, purl stitch - stockinette stitch.
This 26-week Fashion Design program consists of in-depth theory, practical knowledge, additional open lab time and hands-on, creative projects. This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training.
With this class and just a bit of practice you will master this new element and learn how to create a perfect inset circle, one quarter circle at a time. This blue moon quilt will look gorgeous in your home!
