The course also includes knowledge of relevant policies and their implications for child development, assessment, reporting, administration, team work, professionalism and parental contact.
1993, Jill Sachs, a teacher and principal at a local Pre-Primary school had a vision for offering vibrant, inspiring in-service training to teachers working in early childhood. Known as the SCOPE Course, it was offered part-time over two years, and it gained an enviable reputation.
With Jill’s redeployment to the position of Responsibility Manager for Early Childhood Development at the Department of Education Provincial Head Office in 1996, the course continued to be offered to small numbers of students in Durban and Zululand.
Those who achieve this unit standard will be able to conduct assessments within their fields of expertise. People credited with this unit standard are able to carry out assessments in a fair, valid, reliable and practicable manner that is free of all bias and discrimination.
To obtain a National Certificate: A total of 7 subjects: 3 Fundamental and 4 Vocational subjects.
