Training

ACT Kuala Lumpur draws on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Contextual Behavioural Science to provide modern, effective and efficient treatment.

Supervision (also known as consultations) in ACT is provided by Farah Gulamoydeen via Zoom. Qualified mental health professionals (does not include trainees/students/post-grad students or professionals without licensure or registration with a recognised professional body) with any training in ACT is welcome, in fact, encouraged to attend supervision to further their skills in implementing ACT clinically. Supervision is also a place for one to grow professionally using ACT.

Farah uses SHAPE, an ACT based supervision approach and as part of that, is open about her supervision values. She shares here:

Safety

• I want you to feel safe with me, safe to be yourself, safe to try new things, and safe to stumble (or fall!)

Open

• I am open to learning new things to share with you, and to learn from you too. I am also open to feedback all the time

Accepting

• I accept you as a therapist and however you view yourself as one

Vulnerable

• I am willing to be vulnerable as a person in front of you

Respectful

• In line with Safety and Accepting above, I respect boundaries, decisions you make as a therapist in and outside of our sessions
