This course is specifically for senior phase school pupils while still at school.
This National Progression Award (NPA) at SCQF level 6 will introduce you to the dynamic travel sector and will allow you to develop the employability skills and knowledge that are important to industry employers.
It will allow you to develop a good working knowledge of UK and global travel destinations and tourism and travel products available in Scotland and the UK. You will learn how to meet customer requirement, use online systems and understand the role of air cabin crew and holiday resort representative.

Two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) at 13.30 hours
Entry requirements
Candidates must have achieved 4 x National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above and be capable of working independantly on research projects.
Learners would benefit from having attained or be working towards:
English at National 5 (SCQF level 5) or above
Travel and Tourism Units at SCQF level 5 (Skills for Work)
Social Subject at National 5 (SCQF level 5) or above
English Proficiency Requirements
Minimum 5.5 IELTS or equivalent
Progression and Articulation Routes
Successful completion of this qualification will count as one Higher for access to one of our HN Travel and Tourism courses in the following year.

Edinburgh College was formed on 1 October 2012 as part of the merger of Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges. The college has four campuses, all of which were previously the campuses of the constituents of the merger:
On 17 April 2012, Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges collectively submitted to the Scottish Government a business case for their merger into a single "Edinburgh" college.
The merger was approved by the Scottish Ministers, and came into force on 1 October 2012. Edinburgh College values it’s rich history, especially those of the many legacy colleges that have come together over the years to better serve the learners of the Edinburgh and Lothian’s region.
A project is currently underway to collate the history of Edinburgh College and its legacy institutions and to create an archive of material to tell its story. Lots of interesting items have already been uncovered including old prospectuses, student newsletters, photographs and a log book from Ramsay Technical Institute dated 1923.
On this programme you will also learn about worldwide travel destinations tour operators' products and services package holidays special interest holidays independent travel promotions and sales in travel and tourism conferences and events.
At least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above ideally in maths and English or merit / distinction at Level 2 and have been strongly working towards English and maths GCSE.
The purpose of the Travel & Tourism Level 1 qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of the basic principles of the Travel & Tourism Industry, allowing them to explore the various avenues of work within this industry.
