This course is for those who have a keen interest in the travel and tourism industry and wish to develop their knowledge and understanding in this field. This course is made up of six different units across two years. In the first year, students will develop their understanding of the components of the industry as well as studying customer service and careers in the industry.
In the second year students will focus on the appeal of different travel and tourism destinations as well as looking at the different motivating factors for travel. This will be rounded off by looking at the UK airport sector. Learners will be assessed through a range of coursework styles.
What skills will I develop?
You will develop literacy, numeracy, technical and creative skills through the programme of study.
The units will help you to improve your evaluative and analytical skills.
You will develop and improve your research skills, as well as your overall IT and communication skills.
You will have the opportunity to access a work experience placement within the travel and tourism industry and develop an understanding of how the industry operates.
You will develop your critical thinking skills as you engage in current affairs impacting the industry and how these impacts can be managed.

Where does the course lead?
This course can lead to further study in Event Management, Tourism Management, Airport Management or Hospitality. Other students may move on to employment, for example in the Airline Industry, Resort Services, Tourism and Hospitality or Trainee Management posts.
