This qualification aims to provide learners with an understanding of the principles of the Travel & Tourism Industry and allow them to explore the various avenues of work within this industry.
This course is made up of two qualifications:

This qualification aims to provide learners with an understanding of the principles of the Travel & Tourism Industry and allow them to explore the various avenues of work within this industry.
It will allow learners to gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.
Waltham Forest College is putting sustainability at the heart of everything that we do, and in this course, you will learn more about sustainable tourism and how the industry works to be eco-friendly, for example, through responsible travel, ecotourism and looking to reduce the carbon footprint.
The course is scheduled for 3-4 days per week.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew
This qualification is designed for learners who would like to work as cabin crew.
This qualification will focus on cabin crew, offering breadth and depth of study, incorporating core knowledge and providing opportunities to acquire several practical and technical skills.
Sector Overview
Tourism in the UK is a vital source of economic activity, contributing to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and supporting jobs across the UK through a mix of inbound, outbound and domestic tourism.
The sector is made up of other sub-sectors including, airlines, airports, hotels, tour operators, travel agency, visitor attractions and ancillary services. It is expected that the Travel & Tourism Industry will add 126 million new job opportunities between 2022 and 2032.
According to figures from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, air traffic in the UK grew dramatically in 2022, with over 224 million passengers flying to and from UK airports, or 75% more than in 2019. With this increase, Cabin Crews are identified as vital part of commercial aviation.

If required, you will study GCSE or Functional Skills maths and/or English alongside your course so you can progress onto the next level.
4 GCSEs at Grades 2 (E) or above including maths and English

To further enhance your progression, you will actively participate in enrichment activities provided as part of the course.
You will take part in trips and visits such as theme parks, museums and other visitor attractions both locally and internationally. You will also be attending taster days with our work experience employers.
Alongside this, you will also have access to key employers that will deliver guest lectures to build your industry knowledge and contacts.
Work Experience
You must complete 36-hours (1 week) or 45 days of external work placement which is an essential part of the programme. Some of the opportunities will include placements such employers such as Mandarin Oriental, The Dorchester and The Ritz.

This course enables you to explore the fast-paced world of Travel and Tourism. You will explore different aspects of the industry from the front line in the roles of Cabin Crew, Holiday Reps or Travel Agents to behind the scenes within Tour Operations, Marketing and Customer Service.
This course will allow you to develop the skills required in the travel and tourism industry; from organising events and planning itineraries, to presenting welcome meetings, finding out about the cruise industry and much more.
This practical and work related course that will give you an overall appreciation of the UK travel and tourism industry. You will benefit from developing a wide range of skills and gain sound knowledge which will equip you for a junior role within one of the most exciting industries.
