On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
Understand vehicle incidents in the workplace and describe the impact power of a vehicle.
Understand the UK legislation for Health and Safety at Work and Workplace Transport Safety.
Identify workplace transport risks using the HSE Workplace Transport Checklist, including identification of road signs, traffic routes, speed limits, lighting and awareness of site hazards.
Describe the roles and responsibilities of the Banksman.
Identify blind spots in the driver’s field of view.
Demonstrate how to use correct Banksman hand and verbal signals to direct hazardous operations.
Understand how to introduce the site, including safety procedures and site policies.
Know how to complete banksman operations in off-site situations, e.g. roadside deliveries.
Mode for Delivery
The course is delivered by one of our fully qualified, experienced tutors registered with the Road Traffic Industry Training Board, who use a variety of theoretical and practical input, including interactive powerpoints, whole group discussions, group and partner work and practical demonstrations.
Examination: each candidate will complete a short, written exam at the end of the course, as well as a practical assessment where they must demonstrate skills learned on the course.

This course is intended for any employee who is, or who will recently begin to be, involved in the manoeuvring, loading or unloading of vehicles, whether on or off a specific site.
Prerequisites
Onsite Delivery Requirements
A classroom environment with a table and chair for each delegate, power, a clear wall or screen for presenting and suitable welfare facilities.
This course also requires a suitable amount of outdoor space to carry out practical demonstrations and assessments approximately 20m x 20m.
Equipment Requirements:
PPE
Vehicle for delegates to direct and control the movement of plant on and around the work site, barriers if required to segregate practical area
