Merit School of Music is a nationally accredited music school located in Chicago’s West Loop. Our primary goals are to help young people transform their lives and experience personal growth through music by providing access to participation.
For more than 40 years, we have been home to a diverse community of talented young musicians and have acted as a springboard for achieving full musical and personal potential.
Our 125 passionate and experienced teaching artists provide access to high-quality music education, engaging over 3,000 students annually at our downtown location and in area schools and community centers.

As noted above all of our voice instructors offer voice and piano combination lessons, which are available to students of all ages. A voice and piano combination lesson emphasizes a dual focus on both vocal technique and playing the piano – combined into one lesson
At Northside Music School, we teach our students the safe and effective singing techniques and musical skills needed to excel at any style of music that they desire. Our current students engage in vocal lessons of many styles including opera lessons, R&B lessons, jazz vocal lessons and more
Our instructors work on breathing, pitch, tone, music theory, performance, stage work, character work and more! Band Aid School of Music also provides plenty of opportunities to front your very own band
Our Voice Lessons department has two major sub-departments: Our Professional Voice Program, where we work with professional singers and aspiring pros of all ages, including professional public speakers, and our General Voice sub-department, where we work with absolute beginners as young as 5 or 6
