Students will need to have their own instrument to bring to lessons and practice on at home. We don’t rent or sell instruments but will be happy to give you recommendations on local stores.
We’re currently offering both in-person and online private lessons. Please contact me if you’d like to discuss getting started with piano, guitar, bass, violin, drums, or voice. (Voice and violin are currently only online.) All staff are vaccinated and well-masked and the lesson rooms are large and well-ventilated.
Our Young Child classes are primarily outside right now but I hope to be moving back to our inside/outside hybrid before too long. If there’s a class you’re interested in you can register here or email me with any questions.
Classes have small groups, distance, masks, clean instruments, and plenty of ventilation when indoors. Adults who participate in the Music and Me classes must be vaccinated and wear a medical-grade or double mask.
Viola Lessons are offered by Portland Music Collective. Most music schools have “faculty.” At Portland's only music education cooperative, we call our music teachers Cooperative Teaching Artists (CTAs).
The viola has been around almost as long as the violin. It is the middle child of the string family, having a larger body with a deeper, lower tone. Like the violin, it is held by balancing the instrument on the shoulder with the head and is most commonly played by drawing a bow
Viola Lessons are offered by Academia del Violin for all ages and skill level. Classes are individual following a European system which allows to acquire knowledge of execution and memorization in an accelerated way.
