TLIW0004 Grind Rail and TLIW0006 Heat & Cut materials using OXY-LPG equipment for the rail industry can be offered as standalone courses.

  • applying grinding techniques to achieve rail profile and surface condition
  • knowledge of accepted rail industry standards for rail profile and surface condition
  • identifying job requirements

 

Entry Requirements:

  • There are no pre-requisites for this course however, to satisfy Rail Network Requirements* the following is required:
  • CPCCWHS1001 Work safely in the construction industry
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor    OR
  • TLIF2080 Safely Access the Rail Corridor (superseded as at 28/01/2021 – Credit Transfer to TLIF0020 Required )
  • *Rail Network Operators in most States and Territories require workers to hold the above prior to entering rail worksites.
  • Candidates are required to be able to use Oxy LP gas cutting equipment and be able to cut rail to a good standard prior to the course starting date and must have been working with Thermit welders for at least 2-3 months to be familiar with the procedure being trained.
