Situated in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities at the heart of Chennai’s film and music industry, we offer a range of part-time and full-time courses in Hindustani and Western classical music and music technology.
Under the patronage of our founder, A.R. Rahman, we offer programmes for all ages and abilities. We are located in the purpose-built campus of KM College of Music and Technology, which also houses commercial recording studios and The Sunshine Orchestra for underprivileged children.
Our renowned faculty are drawn from around the world, with specialisms in musical performance, musical theory and analysis, music history and music technology.
We teach the ideal of swara, raga, sruti and tala of carnatic music. We get deep into the minds of students and kindle their interest in music and enlighten their spirits by providing them a proper platform to showcase their talent.
Western Classical vocals courses are taught in THEME by a group of highly experienced teachers.
We provide personal attention to each disciple to grow him effectively with all the aspects of music. Teaching method is so easy and always oriented towards practical performance not only theoretical approach. Hence disciples are getting confidence practically.
All classes at Opus are grouped according to ability, not age, and each class is organized according to our custom designed curriculum. We emphasize the importance of music and approach music in a fun manner.
Vocal Lessons are offered by Sur Mandir for all ages and skill level. Sur Mandir also assists students in obtaining certificates and diplomas in Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal) in affiliation with Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
