Anyone aged 8 and over is welcome to join, but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class.
Note:
This class is designed to give you a taster of the experience of ceramics. No pieces are included, however if you wish to keep one of your creations, we can professionally finish and fire it, as well as apply our studio white glaze which is food safe and dishwasher friendly. Costed at $25 per piece.
This process takes roughly (4 weeks) in which we will then email you when they are ready for collection. If you do not return to pick up your pottery within a month of the pick up date, we'll donate it to those in need in our community.
Kayde (founder) built ClayGround and Bondi Clay, two ethically conscious and sustainable studios because it was his mission to not only support the natural environment, but also create a community that fosters creativity and connection through the sharing of thoughts, ideas and talent in our growing community of ceramicists.
Kayde first opened Bondi Clay in 2019 as a way of sharing his love for ceramics with his community. Kayde created this studio to offer a wide selection of classes, workshops and events to all ages and skill levels.
ClayGround then came to life at the start of 2021 as a dedicated membership based studio where people could expand and share their ceramic skills in a cutting-edge studio space. This has allowed him to build a community hub that inspires joy, relaxation and creative expression, celebrating the incredible benefits of ceramics.
Class sizes are small (max 12). Individuals are encouraged to work on their own projects, at their own pace, exploring individuality & self expression, whilst interacting with other members of the group and learning about the techniques and chemistry of the sculptural & pottery processes.
We are a Paint Your Own Pottery Studio located in the heart of Cleveland on Middle Street. Colour My Pot is a family owned and operated business that caters to kids and adults alike.
This course is for beginners with no previous experience and those that have some experience throwing on a wheel. You will learn the fundamental skills of clay preparation, using a wheel, centring clay, how to throw basic forms, trimming and glazing.
Making (throwing) pots on the pottery wheel is a bit of a process its a good idea to book at least 2 wheel classes * they don't have to be consecutive.
The session will start with a safety briefing and chat about the process, followed by a quick demonstration of throwing a pot on the wheel. You will then get to jump on the wheel yourself and get stuck into centring clay, pulling the walls and shaping your very own ceramic pieces!
