Course Summary

The purpose of a WHMIS 2015 program is to:

  • Strengthen workplace safety culture by elevating the profile and importance of preventing exposure to chemicals in the workplace

  • Provide workers who may be exposed to the chemicals with adequate knowledge about general safety practices, where to find additional information (SDS) and how to work with those products in a safe manner

  • Provide workers who use chemicals with sufficient knowledge about its purpose and use in the workplace

  • Reduce the number of exposures to chemical incidents, injuries, and fatalities

By the end of this course, participants will have the knowledge and understanding of:

  • What is WHMIS and GHS

  • How to use personal protective equipment

  • Safe storage practices

  • WHMIS 2015 classes and symbols

  • How to read an SDS

  • How to protect yourself

  • What to do in case of an emergency spill
