WHMIS 2015 training course is offered by Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System 2015 (WHMIS 2015) is a globally harmonized communication system dealing with controlled products
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System 2015 (WHMIS 2015) is a globally harmonized communication system dealing with controlled products and includes three main components: labels, safety data sheets (SDS), and worker education.
WHMIS 2015 provides employers and workers with information about the controlled products they work with on the job, or will be in the proximity of, within the workplace.
The Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) is a non-profit organization run by and for the building construction industry in Manitoba, with governance provided by the Winnipeg Construction Association’s Board of Directors and the CSAM Advisory Committee.
Established in 1989, CSAM has earned the reputation as a leader in the safety landscape of Manitoba, as well as within the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations. This reputation has been fueled by the association’s focus on providing exceptional customer service, quality, and value for its clients.
“Practical Solutions for a Safer Workplace” remains a cornerstone and guiding principle for the implementation of CSAM’s objectives:
To provide information regarding accident prevention methods and changes to health and safety regulations.
To develop information, resources, tools, and training programs to enable contractors to meet their legislated responsibilities.
To provide guidance with respect to establishing comprehensive safety programs tailored to meet the needs of individual companies both large and small.
To act as the Authority Having Jurisdiction to grant COR® Certification and SECOR® Certification.
CSAM is financed by Manitoba contractors through a surcharge on a small percentage of contractors’ assessment premiums, collected by the Workers Compensation Board, as well as by the premiums paid by associate members, and revenue generated from products and services.
Recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazards are the basic building blocks of any safety and health management system.
This is an introductory level course designed to enable students to identify dangerous goods incidents and properly perform isolation and evacuation procedures.
Our WHMIS course contains both WHMIS 1988 and GHS WHMIS 2015, which employers are required to still teach in the workplace until December 2018.
Under the current Occupational Health and Safety Code of Alberta, employers are required to ensure that there is a system in place that identifies both real and/ or potential hazards that are present in our work environments.
In this course students (research assistants) will be taken into the lab of a scientist. Unfortunately, the scientist has not labeled all of his chemicals. He needs the help of the students to figure out what materials are needed and how to complete the reactions without any accidents or spills.
