The information in the program will keep workers safe by providing them with all of the necessary information prior to being exposed to or working with any chemical products.
The new WHMIS is called WHMIS 2015 (Global Harmonized System). It came into effect with a transition period which will last several years. WHMIS requirements are set out in the Federal Hazardous Products Act and Regulations, administered by Health Canada. Each province and territory legislate WHMIS as well.
The trainee will be educated on pictograms which appear on all WHMIS labels such as compressed gas as well as the PH Scale which indicates Acid, Neutral and Alkaline.
This program will also cover Safety Data Sheets which consists of 16 different components which include and are not limited to hazard identification, first aid measures and personal protection.

Upon passing and completion the trainee will receive a wallet card.

This course focuses on the recognition of a hazardous materials emergency, personnel safety, hazard assessment, and the notification of the emergency response team using safe, practical, defensive actions - critical components when dealing with a hazardous situation.
This facilitated training is available at London Training Centre or by pre-arrangement at workplaces in the community
This program is generic in nature and gives participants a basic understanding of the WHMIS Legislation. Testing is mandatory under law and a pictorial test is conducted at the end of the program, which complies with the legislation.
Workplace Safety and Health regulations require that workers be informed about the hazards of controlled products used within their workplace. On an annual basis, workers must receive the appropriate WHMIS training to enable them to work safely.
WHMIS stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a Canada-wide system designed to protect the health & safety of working Canadians by providing information about hazardous materials encountered at work.
