?Planning to work with hazardous chemicals in your workplace? WorkSafeBC regulations apply! In BC all employers are required by law to provide WHMIS instruction to all employees who are in contact with and in close proximity to any materials (hazardous chemicals) defined as controlled products.
WHMIS was updated in 2015 in BC to align with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) developed by the United Nations. The updated classifications, labels, and safety data sheets will improve communication, clarity, and worker safety. Although the system has changed, the responsibilities of workers, employers, and suppliers remain unchanged.
