WHMIS Training
WHMIS stands for the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a comprehensive system for providing health and safety information on hazardous products intended for use, handling, or storage in Canadian workplaces. As of December 2018 Canada has aligned the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), now known as WHMIS 2015.
The purpose of WHMIS is to ensure employers and workers receive consistent and comprehensive health and safety information about the hazardous products they may be exposed to at work.
The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires employers to ensure hazardous products are identified, to obtain safety data sheets and make them available in the workplace and to provide instruction and training to workers.
Our WHMIS 2015 course ensures your workers receive training and instruction on the WHMIS 2015 system. Upon completion participants will:
Understand WHMIS labels
Recognize the pictograms (symbols) and understand the hazards that they represent
Identify the hazards represented by each hazard class
Find additional information about hazards and protective measures on safety data sheets (SDS).
What We Do
Safety First Consulting Professional Corporation provides a total solution service to our clients. Our proactive approach drives preventative rather than reactive actions that aid in the prevention of incidents and accidents.
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) is to provide workers with the information they need to stay safe on the job. It provides workers on how hazardous a product is and it ensures Canada-wide communication standards to protect workers who handle the hazardous chemicals.
The WHMIS 2015 GHS course offered by Expert Safety Solutions covers the updated pictograms and is designed to ensure employers and workers have up-to-date information on hazardous material used in the workplace.
This course is designed to reduce accidents and injuries from working with or in close proximity to hazardous chemicals (controlled products).
Under the current Occupational Health and Safety Code of Alberta, employers are required to ensure that there is a system in place that identifies both real and/ or potential hazards that are present in our work environments.
The Safe-Tech WHMIS 2015 (GHS) Training program is designed to provide employers and workers with the necessary knowledge to classify and identify chemical hazards used in the workplace.
